Planning Your Social Media

Planning Your Social Media

There’s no doubt about it. Social media is having a huge impact on the way that potential and existing customers behave. Knowing this creates more pressure for us as business owners if we aren’t careful. Interacting via the different social media platforms in an attempt to engage with our target audience can seem like yet another onerous task to fit into our already busy schedules. This is what I would call a ‘glass half empty’ view!

Or, you can look at it differently, and take a ‘glass half full’ view which is, ‘Isn’t it great that I can connect, communicate and engage potential and existing customers using a range of different social media platforms?!’.

Here are the facts as I see it:

– social media is an excellent way of engaging and communicating with our customers.
– social media enables us to engage & build relationships in a different way.
– there is an excellent choice of social media platforms so there must be one which is right for most businesses.
– millions and millions of people use social media every day – so if it is good enough for them, it is good enough for my business.

I could go on! I was quite a late convert to social media – but as I see it, one thing is very important here. That is, if your customers are using social media – then you being active on that platform is an excellent way of building the relationship with those customers.

‘But the big issue is which social media channels should I use and what I am supposed to be doing?’

This is a question that I’ve asked myself so many times in my business. As a result of me fathoming out the answer on several occasions to different levels of success I decided to create a little planning document to help me get my head straight. I’ve now refined this planner so that you too can get your social media strategy a little clearer in your head.
