How would you describe the position of your business prior to signing up for The Ten Week Start Up online programme?
Prior to signing up for the course the business was an idea, or a few ideas swimming around in my head. It was at the very beginning of being a business.
What was the reason you decided to commit to a structured ten week programme of training with Miranda?
I’d thought about setting up a small business for a while. Many people who know my art work and know me as a teacher had suggested it to me. I like to be always moving forward, to keep my work interesting. Several friends have worked with Miranda and spoken very highly of her.
What have been the best things you have learned as a result of taking part in The Ten Week Start Up programme?
To set achievable goals (SMART!). That slow build is fine. That it’s very useful to have and make dates for, for example, getting a website, starting an Etsy online shop. That I’d need to dedicate quite a lot of time to setting up a business if I’m to take it seriously.
How would you describe the position of your business now that you’ve completed the ten week programme?
Due to the time of the year that I completed the programme, (summer), I haven’t been able to devote much time to setting up my business. I have made some business cards, made more greetings cards to sell, bought some frames for prints, mounted some prints on card. Now I need to approach a couple of shops, and set up an Etsy online shop site. I’ve made arrangements for 2 local exhibitions. I have felt more confident when I’ve talked about my art work and teaching, an importantly I am feeling more focused.
What makes Miranda stand out as a business mentor?
Miranda has been hugely supportive and approachable. Her enthusiasm is infectious!
